Piedmont Recreation Department is Hiring

If you are interested in community engagement, youth education, healthy living, event planning, or recreation at-large, we need your passion, creativity, and experience. PRD offers diverse programming in aquatics, after-school programs and classes, youth sports, and more. PRD is currently hiring for multiple positions.

Most available positions are part-time with flexible schedules. Aquatics

Join the Piedmont Community Pool team! The Piedmont Community Pool provides year-round lap swimming, seasonal swim lessons, water polo programming, and other aquatic programs. We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Assistant Pool Manager

This position is part-time, minimum 30 hours per week. The Assistant Pool Manager, working in conjunction with the Aquatics Coordinator, oversees all aspects of programming, staffing, and facility maintenance at the Piedmont Community Pool. Strong candidates for this position have at least three years experience in Aquatics and current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED Training certifications.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the Aquatics Coordinator with daily operations of the facility and programming
  • Supervision of the year round swim school program, instructors and development of program materials and some facility maintenance and lifeguard training and oversight
  • Assists with the planning and coordination of staff trainings
  • Assists with staff scheduling and time sheets preparation

Assistant Pool Manager Job Description

Head Lifeguard

The Head Lifeguard position is part-time with a flexible schedule, offers a competitive salary, and gives you the chance to develop practical leadership and managerial skills. If you are interested in meaningful work helping others, or considering a career in public safety or medicine, the aquatics industry is a perfect place to start. 

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the Pool Manager/ Program Coordinator with daily operations of the facility and programming
  • Oversees and monitors the performance of Lifeguards and Swim Instructor duties and functions
  • Patrol, observe and monitor the swimming pools and aquatic facility to ensure safety and prevent accidents

Salary: $16.50–$20 /hour
Head Lifeguard Job Description

Lifeguard

This position is part-time with flexible schedules, offers a competitive salary, and gives you the chance to develop practical leadership skills. Lifeguards are responsible for the direct safety and supervision of pool patrons. If you value helping others, staying active, and serving your community lifeguarding is the perfect job for you.

Essential Duties:

  • Patrol, observe and monitor the swimming pools and aquatic facility to ensure safety and prevent accidents
  • Enter water to rescue and/or assist persons in distress; administer CPR, oxygen administration, and first aid, as needed
  • Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services

Salary: $14–$17/hr
Lifeguard Job Description

Swim Instructors

Throughout the year Piedmont Community Pool offers youth swim lessons for all ages. Swim instructors are the heart of these lessons- planning, implementing, and evaluating students over the course of each 3-4 week session. If you love teaching, swimming, and working with kids this job is for you!

Essential Duties:
  • Develop lesson plans for swim lesson participants from age six (6) months to adult
  • Deliver instruction to all participants as outlined in Piedmont aquatics program
  • Ability to demonstrate skills and swim strokes to each level as appropriate

Schoolmates After-School Program

Schoolmates is a play-based afterschool program serving the Piedmont Elementary schools each morning and afternoon. Each afternoon staff lead and supervise children in games, crafts, sports, music, dance and more.
