Summer Sidekicks (1-on-1 Matching)

The Summer Sidekicks 1-on-1 Matching Program is only available to returning Sidekicks participants.

The Summer Sidekicks 1-on-1 Matching Program offers a unique opportunity for neurodiverse campers to enroll in a PRD summer camp. Sidekick staff will carefully match the camper with their very own Teen Sidekick for the week. The Teen Sidekick meets with the family prior to camp, allowing the Teen Sidekick the opportunity to get to know the camper (and vice versa) as well as learn more about the child and have the opportunity to ask the parents questions.

During the week of camp, the Teen Sidekick meets campers before the program begins, supports them throughout camp, facilitates forming relationships with other campers, works with them at a modified pace if needed, and takes rest breaks with them. Half-day (AM or PM) and full-day camps are available during Summer Sidekicks.

The utmost care is taken to ensure both the camper and the Teen Sidekick's hobbies, interests, and personalities are a match. The ultimate goal of this process is to ensure the camper's safety, and that the two are making a lasting friendship, creating a wonderful camp experience.
