Mayor Betsy Smegal Andersen
Councilmember Betsy Smegal Andersen was appointed to the City Council in October 2017 and elected to her first term in November 2018 and second term in 2022.
Councilmember Andersen grew up in Piedmont and has a long history of community involvement, including service on the Public Safety Committee and the Recreation Commission.
She is a proud graduate of Piedmont High School, Duke University and the UCLA School of Law.

Vice Mayor Conna McCarthy
Conna McCarthy was elected to her first term on City Council in November 2020. McCarthy serves as liaison to the Public Safety Committee and the Park Commission.
Growing up in San Francisco, in a family where advocacy, activism and participation in democratic processes was required, McCarthy spent a good part of her youth and early adulthood engaged in community organizing projects. Moving to Piedmont in 1989, she has contributed over 25 years of volunteer leadership to the Piedmont Community.
McCarthy is a graduate of Santa Clara University and Santa Clara University, School of Law. She is a licensed attorney, wife, and a mother of three adult children. She takes special pride in her affiliation with The McCarthy Center for Public Service at USF where students prepare for careers of ethical public service in government, business, the environment, healthcare, and education.

Councilmember Jennifer Long
Jennifer Long was appointed by Council in February of 2022, and elected to her first full term in November 2022.
Councilmember Long began her volunteer work in Piedmont as a member of the Piedmont Racial Equity Campaign (PREC) steering committee. She then went on to become a board member and co-president of the Piedmont Anti-Racism Diversity Committee (PADC), an organization that has been a fixture in Piedmont for over 20 years.
Long obtained her B.A. from William Smith College, and her law degree from Howard University School of Law.

Councilmember Tom Ramsey
Tom Ramsey was elected to his first term on City Council in November 2022. Tom serves as the council’s liaison to the Recreation Commission and served for seven years on the Planning Commission with one term as the chair.
Tom and his wife moved to Piedmont in 1993, raising their two daughters here.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, a licensed architect, owned an East Bay architectural firm for 18 years and is currently a Vice President of a national real estate consulting firm.

Councilmember Lorrel Plimier
Councilmember Lorrel Plimier was elected to City Council in November of 2024. Councilmember Plimier is a US Army Veteran, attorney, and data scientist.
She moved to Piedmont in 2011 and has been a community volunteer since then, including with the League of Women Voters of Piedmont where she served as president for four years. She is also an active Director on the board of the League of Women Voters of California supporting the mission of “empowering voters and defending democracy.”
Plimier has a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College, a JD from Boston College Law School, and a Master of Information and Data Science degree from U.C. Berkeley.
