City Council Budget Study Session
Monday, April 21, 4pm
Piedmont Community Church (Clara Barton/Doris Murdock Room), 400 Highland Avenue
At a previous study session held on April 7, Interim Finance Director Lisa Malek-Zadeh presented preliminary revenue projections for the coming year. The Council then reviewed key achievements for FY2024-25 and ongoing major projects across the breadth of the City’s focus areas – enhancing transparency, community programming, planning for housing needs, public safety, and maintaining and improving Piedmont’s public facilities.
At Monday’s meeting, discussion is expected to focus on high priority capital projects, special funds and critical budget variables for the coming year. Council feedback will shape the next stages of budget preparation.
Community members are welcome to attend and speak in-person at the meeting.
FY2025-2026 Budget Discussion Schedule
This is the second in a series of public meetings where the budget will be discussed. The current schedule for future meetings is:
- Tuesday, May 13, 6pm: Budget Advisory and Financial Planning Committee
- Monday, June 2, 6pm: Budget Public Hearing – regular City Council meeting
- Monday, June 16, 6pm:Adoption of FY2024-2025 City budget – regular City Council meeting
The proposed budget is expected to be published for review and feedback in early May.
In the past, public budget discussions began in May, following the release of the proposed budget. The City introduced April budget study sessions last year, continuing a multi-year evolution towards longer-term planning - a shift that has been underway for several years at the recommendation of the Budget Advisory and Financial Planning Committee.
