Voting in the November 5, 2024 Election

On November 5, Piedmont voters will elect representatives to fill two City Council seats and three seats on the Piedmont Unified School District Board of Education, in addition to federal, state, county, and special district offices. The ballot also includes a proposed Piedmont Unified School District parcel tax and 10 statewide ballot measures.

All registered Alameda County voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. The Registrar of Voters began mailing voter information guides on September 26 and will begin mailing ballots starting Monday, October 7. Get notified when your ballot is mailed, received, and counted by signing up for the Registrar of Voters’ Track My Ballot tool.

Voter Registration deadline October 21

The last day to register to vote for the November 5 election is Monday, October 21.

If you’re already registered, check your registration status before October 21 to confirm that your information is correct. You’ll need to re-register if you have:

  • moved
  • changed your name
  • wish to change your political party preference.

Voter registration forms are available at the City Clerk’s Office and from the Registrar of Voters. You can also register to vote online at registertovote.ca.gov.

Voting by mail

You can submit your ballot by mail or at any of 66 official Registrar of Voters secure ballot drop boxes across Alameda County.

  • Mailing your ballot: If you mail your ballot through the post office, it must be postmarked by November 5.
  • Ballot drop boxes: In Piedmont, there is a ballot drop box located near the mailboxes at Highland Way and Mountain Avenue, available 24 hours a day. The Registrar of Voters picks up ballots from the drop boxes daily. The last pickup will be at 8pm on Tuesday, November 5.

Whether submitting your ballot by mail or a secure drop box, remember to sign the back of your return envelope – otherwise your vote will not be counted!

Voting in Person

Alameda County voters can vote in person at any of 100 Vote Centers across the county. In Piedmont, the Veterans Memorial Building at 401 Highland Avenue will serve as a Vote Center.

All vote centers will be open:

  • Saturday, November 2 – Monday, November 4: 9am-5pm
  • Tuesday, November 5: 7am to 8pm

A smaller subset of voter centers will be open 9am-5pm for a full 11 days before the election, starting on October 26. The closest 11-day vote center to Piedmont is at Oakland Technical High School, 4351 Broadway.
