Rebates and Incentives

Building Electrification

City of Piedmont Electrification Pilot Rebate Program

As of January 3, 2023, the City of Piedmont is offering electrification rebates for certain electric home appliances. Electrification refers to the process of replacing everything that burns fossil fuels with efficient electric alternatives. By removing your natural gas appliances, you reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve indoor air quality. Eligible appliances include heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and associated panel upgrades. In addition, contractors who register with the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) after January 1, 2023 will be eligible for a $500 signing bonus.

On February 9, 2023 the City's Sustainability Division held a webinar about home electrification and electrification rebate opportunities. Experts from the City of Piedmont, BayREN, and local HVAC contractors discussed how certain electric appliances work, the benefits of home electrification, and electrification rebate programs. The webinar was recorded and can be viewed here on the City's YouTube page. Slides from the webinar can be found here
